Not everybody has an U.S. keyboard layout. On my spanish keyboard the 
vertical bar is "ISO_Level_3_Shift" modifier (according to xev) 
on the number "1". But at 

But at least it works, so I don't complain. OTOH, there may be a bug in 
gschem, because for me the bindings for "previous page" never works:
"<" and ">" are actually on the same key (additional key compared 
to US keyboards, which makes the left shift key much narrower). The
plain key gives "<" and does not have any effect, while the shifted
symbol is ">" and actually switches to the next page as indicated
by the menu entry.

I can't remember this ever working, but I have not used it in 
a looong time. Right now on old the version I use, it seems to have the
same effect as <TAB>, but I am in the middle of a medium-size project 
and I don't want to upgrade until all 4 different types of boards are 
manufactured, assembled and tested.
