Re: gEDA-dev: referencing or embedding symbols?
Hi all,
I do agree with Kai-Martin.
It would be a good thing if updated symbols in the library would be reported against any "older" symbols used in the schematic (use symversion here ?).
If one should decide to update one of the reported symbol(s) then all instances of this symbol should be updated, as to avoid to manually update all general resistors or general capacitors in a schematic.
"Default" behaviour implies to me that the choice for embedding/referencing would be configurable (otherwise it would have to be named "new" behaviour).
Kind regards,
Bert Timmerman.

Me too.
I hate to see the red not found symbols if I open old projects.
Nevertheless, there should be an interactive way to update the embedded
symbols on demand.
