Understood. Careful not to fall into the other extreme though.
At least for me, using Cygwin has always been a way to fill some holes
of Windows environment. I often don't have the choice but to work in a
Windows environment as dictated by my employers/customers. Using
Cygwin allows me to get (almost) both worlds under the same hood, and
benefit from efficiency of using some GNU tools and workflows (gEDA/
gaf, perl, Makefiles, etc.).
Using VMware or Parallels and an Ubuntu virtual machine by example is
another way to get such somewhat blended environment. And the latest
versions of these tools are mature and reliable enough to be
reasonably usable in day to day work.
My guess is that I am not the only one in such case.
Setting aside everyone's opinion about such or such OS, I thought that
giving a hint to folks who want to give it a quick try while
constrained under a certain OS would be quite beneficial, and could
put the gEDA/gaf project above such OS level argumentation.

Would a cross-OS section be more appropriate then? I.e. add a note at
the end of the Platforms section stating that it is always possible to
use gEDA/gaf in a non native OS environment by using common tools like
Cygwin (with the link I mentioned), or virtual machines with VMWare
Fusion (MacOS X) or Player (Windows XP/Vista), Parallels, etc.
