Why in blue blazes is gschem so picky about having the very latest guile?
I'm trying to install gschem on my alpha, which is 6.2 and I'm trying to
keep relatively canonical so that I can build RPMS for users. The guile
packages wind up, by a long chain of dependencies, requiring either that
I install the RedHat 7.0 glibc or build guile myself.
(Upgrading to 7.0 will make my RPMS incompatible with 6.2, while my
current 6.2 RPMS are compatible with 7.x. Not everybody, especially EE
types who are trying to do real work, has the time to spend building and
installing all kinds of packages or upgrading systemsto keep up with
these things. I know that *I* certainly don't have the time.)
So basically you are saying that gschem isn't available for RedHat 6.2
systems? That sucks. How hard would it be to fix this dependency? Since
Stefan is sending me schematics that use the newest libraries, I need
to upgrade gschem, but I'm stuck.
