we are using 2.4.7 unfortunately we draw a lot and esp. we dont check if the
part is really visible...
I talked to Ales who apparently has implemented into gschem that only the
things which are visible are actually rendered:-)

No tricks available I am afraid, apart from e.g. the use of gdk_draw_lines()
instead of multiple calls to gdk_draw_line().
