Tried it out on Ubuntu 5.10, and the problem about not finding
pkg-config seems to be solved.

I needed to install: libgtk1.2-dev libreadline5-dev libwxgtk2.6-dev to
get past the software check (I'm sure there is more needed that I have
already installed since this is a lived in system :-)

The configure script for GEDA/Gaf needed guile-1.6-dev (well I had other
versions install that the software check was satisfied by :-( )

Basically a success, everything works when installed (as far as my quick
tests goes).

FYI. the install took about 30 min on a Pentium-4 3.00GHz 512MB doing
desktopy things in the background

A few notes about the installer:

I got a bunch of
(installer.exe:2222): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_text_buffer_emit_insert:
assertion `g_utf8_validate (text, len, NULL)' failed
warnings from the installer. I could not track down the problematic line
in installer.py (2222 is an empty line).

When changing the content of the man window, it creates a new window
that the windowmanager have to place. This leads to the window jumping
around, hiding it self behind other windows etc. just changing the text
would be nicer.

Best regards and thanks for all the work

PS, regarding your call for ubuntu-cds on geda-user, I would send you
one as soon as my shipment arrives, but I think ordering your own (for
free) on https://shipit.ubuntu.com/ will be faster (saving a roundtrip
over the Atlantic :-)
