There is a emacs mode for noweb that I use that makes dealing with the
noweb files much easier.  All the .nw files are setup to take advantage
of this mode.  If you have install the right noweb-mode.el file, then emacs
should be automatically in noweb mode (M-x noweb-mode)  I will post some
.emacs fragments later this evening (along with more info) on this mode
to get highlight working etc...
