Your ideas are very nice, and I think tabbed pages will improve
usability.
FYI, I can't use the standard hotkeys to change between pages due to the
spanish keyboard layout... thus a quick way using the mouse would be
perfect. Yes, I know I can change the hotkey...

I would prefer to use GList's when possible, rather than creating a new
structure which can be linked.
There's still a SELECTION structure which is like a GList one. I had to
change all the selection code in my working tree to use only GList's,
and get a cleaner code.
So... if you are going to change the data structures, one of the things
in my wishlist would be to use GList's.

I suspect Ales can call it a "big" change...
I'm sure your work will be commited into CVS! (maybe after the release)

If it's good and it improves the app, it will be merged.
