Yes, I agree. The empty notebook page forms a strange thin bar over the
drawing area. How about, instead of leaving it empty, we put the full
path name of the schematic file centered inside? Then, IMHO, it wouldn't
look so strange. My copy of the Scintilla Text Editor [1] appears to do
this.

Actually, the Glade User Interface Builder wrote it. I couldn't write
one line of GTK code to save my life ;-) .
I do intend to learn it, with time.

Another thought: perhaps it should be possible to hide the tabs with a
configuration option? IMHO, those using small monitors could benefit
from the extra vertical space.
