'yum install pcb' on my box installed the gtk version of pcb & all the 
symbols... it Just Worked.  PCB appears to be in Fedora Extras nowadays (and 
someone keeps it pretty up-to-date, to).

Where did you get these RPMs?  I'd suggest uninstalling them and trying the 
Fedora Extras ones.
