Re: gEDA-dev: gschem compiling on debian unstable
Thanks for the hints Ales, DJ, Stuart.
I got past all the error stops compiling the latest geda from a
cvs -dPCA today
and see file selection previews working! Thanks Peter Clifton, Peter Brett,
Patrick Bernaud.
It slows the time to be ready to choose one when you select
a new dir, but I like it.
I keep boards in individual directories since there is so much to do specific to
a board as it goes from schematic to layout.
What would it take to preview another level up? What I mean by that is when
choosing a dir that has dirs and .sch files in it, what would be needed to show
previews of all .sch files found below that?
So I'm available for testing now, and I will be using this latest version until
it stops me from working on two boards connected by flat flex cable that I'm
making now.
For others using debian unstable... Pause before upgrading anything X11 xfree86
or xorg, and just leave the xorg off for now. If some other dependincy pull you
into using xorg, here are the packages that finally worked together:
uninstall all *geda* packages, don't use even libgdgeda-dev and libgdgeda6
t1-xfree86-nonfree
ttf-xfree86-nonfree
xfree86-common
xorg-common
install
xserver-xorg-input-mouse 1.0.4-3
xserver-xorg-input-kbd 1.0.1.3-2
xserver-xorg-core 1.1.1-8
xserver-xorg 7.1.0-1
xorg 7.1.0-1
xserver-xorg-video-mga 1.4.1.dfsg.1-4
libx11-6 1.0.0-8
libx11-data 1.0.0-8
libx11-dev 1.0.0-8
x11-common 7.1.0-1
xserver-xfree86 7.1.0-1
As you can see, there is nothing consistent about the names of the required
packages that all have 7.1.0-1 revision numbers... go figure...
I think that is what kept me having a broken installation so long.
