It seems to work for me, this was against the V1_0 tag in CVS, with
PeterB's first patch applied (which contained some already applied fixes
in Makefile.am, ignore the .rej, and the first code to do multiple opens
at once).

I then applied the second PeterB patch on top of that (which applied
cleanly), and re-ran make install. Seemed to work, but ymmv.
