Umm... By using round end lines it looks unlike 1/x, more like....

a teardrop.

I bet DJ already thought of this... and it's so detailed is why he asked for 
other ideas...  Oh well...  reducing this down to two segments would be same 
number of segments as drawing the outline of a triangle teardrop, (from tangent 
lines to a via exterior point), and a triangle teardrop still needs filling 
in...   But with only two segments, you need to decide where to start them to 
get a decent teardrop approximation...
