I understand, being a mechanical engineer myself ...

Way back, some 20 odd years ago, I did my first college graduation in
electronics and computers (Apple 2E and 6502 assembler stuff) and added
the mechanical stuff (a college and later a batchelor degree).

Nowadays, the electronics are a nocturnal hobby (which BTW go well with
computers) and I have a day job involving mechanical engineering for
Blast Furnaces and Steelworks.
