Sure, all netnames are global. That is, if I name a net "foo" on one
schematic page, and name another net "foo" on a different page, then
the nets will be connected together by gnetlist if I run gnetlist on
both files at once.
This behavior is the same as that obtained in ViewDraw. However, it's
different from Orcad. In Orcad, you must explicitly put an off-page
connector symbol on a net to allow it to propagate across pages.

That's not unusual. Don't be discouraged. Over time several
different ways to deal with busses have been mooted, but nothing has
actually been implemented yet. It's a hard problem.
