I think pspice users are used to having to restart the entire program 
suite (or perhaps even windows) in order to reload such settings. A 
label stating that changes only gets applied after restart would 
probably be good enough in the beginning.

I like the idea of a single project file, but I'm not sure the 
developers do.

I'm affraid I'm not the only one who find the stock symbols cluttered 
and scary. I have my own symbols and copy some symbols from share/gEDA 
if I need them.
