gEDA-dev: newbie developer question -- two installations of PCB

I"m going to spend some time on PCB devel.  Is using the .configure option 
--program-suffix=head  along with --prefix=/opt/pcbhead
along with /etc/ld.so.conf containing
/opt/pcb/lib
/opt/pcbhead/lib
and PATH containing  /opt/pcb/bin:/opt/pcbhead/bin

going to give me complete separation of two installations of PCB?
So I can run either from any directory with separate bin, share dirs

/opt/pcb/share/pcb
/opt/pcbhead/share/pcb

used for each?
