Reverse that last...   Gel would make the corners more round, less corner-like.
If you had enough that it slowed etching in a .5 mil radius, it might make the 
wall straighter by slowing the etching under the toner while not slowing it 
farther down from the toner edge.  The toner edge would be a projecting shelf by 
then...
