tuning out the 60Hz hum on the circuit, some good decoupling and a  
good LDO should do the trick nicely, it even provides a nice +/-  
supply  great for op-amps

isolating at the digital stream is easy, and uses inexpensive opto- 
isolators  I'd suggest isolating an SPI based A/D  nice simple uni- 
directional signal lines
