That's maybe six or seven votes in favor of making --gentle the
default behavior for refdes_renum.  Thanks!

I just updated refdes_renum in CVS.  It now implements the --gentle
option by default.  I also modified Dan's spiffy new test suite to
account for this difference in behavior.

Please give it a whirl, and let me know if you find any bugs/problems.
