This morning I've built the 20030525 version of gEDA.

gschem runs but when I try to load any of the example files they all
tell me they are missing symbols.

I have the feeling I've missed setting up some thing, can you point
me in the correct direction please?

gEDA/gschem version 20030525...

Read system-gschemrc file [/opt/gEDA/share/gEDA/system-gschemrc]
Did not find ~/.gEDA/gschemrc file [/home/bob/.gEDA/gschemrc]
Did not find local gschemrc file [./gschemrc]
Read init scm file [/opt/gEDA/share/gEDA/scheme/gschem.scm]
Complex [BJT_Model.sym] not in library
